London Knights Improve Their Medical Evaluation Process with Privit Profile™
Hockey associations and team leaders received a crucial wake-up call after the recent death of a rookie prospect with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Acadie – Bathurst Titan. As a result of this tragic event, all hockey teams at all levels of competition and gender are carefully re-assessing their medical evaluation processes for each hockey player.
The London Knights, a junior hockey team in London, ON, immediately took action to enhance their current medical process for their hockey players by engaging PRIVIT® Inc., a London, ON provider of online solutions for managing personal health profiles for athletes. Privit Profile™ (formerly Privit e-PPE) enables The London Knights to be more proactive in their pre-screening evaluation process by helping to identify and mitigate health risks specific to each player.
With Privit Profile™, coaches and athletic therapists are able to confirm more advanced levels of medical evaluations. In addition, they have access to the profiles of their players within a privacy compliant environment wherever Internet access is available. Parents like the ease of use and the flexibility of being able to update their child’s personal health profile on a regular basis.
Doug Stacey, head athletic therapist with the London Knights and Medical Liaison with Hockey Canada said, “I am very impressed with the program and I am hopeful that all teams within the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) will use the system. Additionally, since it’s a web-based product, I’ll be able to access it wherever I am with the team.”
The PRIVIT® evaluation was developed by a team of medical experts, led by Dr. Winne Meeuwisse, co-chair of the National Hockey League/National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) Health & Safety Committee. PRIVIT®, Inc. is the world’s most advanced manager of online privacy compliant health profiles for hockey players.
